Title:  Near-infrared brain imaging for stroke rehabilitation

Abstract:  The major goals of this project are (1) to validate near-infrared brain imaging (NIRI) for detecting changes associated with motor learning, (2) validate NIRI to detect learning-related changes in stroke patients, and (3) to apply NIRI to stroke rehabilitation questions in a standard rehabilitation setting.

Title:  Regional cerebral activation on fMRI as a predictor of outcome following traumatic brain injury (TBI)

Abstract:  The goals of this project are (1) to uncover any differences in (esp.) prefrontal cortex utilization by TBI patients relative to controls in cued and un-cued word list learning tasks, and (2) to evaluate the utility of fMRI in predicting executive function outcomes for patients enrolling in community integration rehabilitation programs.

Title:  Near-infrared brain imaging for space medicine

Abstract:  In addition to the spaceflight-related goals of this project, we anticipate that our diffuse optics findings will be relevant on earth for brain monitoring in remote/rural/dynamic environments, whereas our computational system could be adapted to operating room or even non-medical sensor-synthesis and interpretation applications.

Title:  Diffuse optical imaging of intracranial pressure changes

Abstract:  The goal of this project is to evaluate the efficacy of measuring regional hemodynamic measurements, obtained from near-infrared (diffuse optical) imaging instruments, in conjunction with invasively measured intracranial pressure measurements.

Title:  Reconfigurable Network of Networks for Multi-Scale Computing

Abstract:  The computational architecture developed in this project is applicable to the control of multiple, independent agents seeking to accomplish a common goal with limited communication bandwidth and with or without external control-inputs.
