Title: Near-infrared brain imaging for space medicine
Abstract: The implicit goal of this project is to advance and further validate the near-infrared brain imagin (NIRI) technique while at the same time enhancing our understanding of the fMRI BOLD signal. The latter effect comes about from the simultaneous acquisition of BOLD and NIRI signals, allowing the comparison of BOLD responses to coincident, regional oxyhemoglobin, deoxyhemoglobin and total hemoglobin concentractions. |

Abstract: This project is funded by a NIBIB RFA titled "Low-cost medical imaging devices" and as such, the purpose of our project is to help develop NIRI into a non-invasive tool useful for monitoring the hemodynamic sequelae of altered intracranial pressure. |
