October 7, 2013: CorticoMetrics LLC was awarded a Phase I STTR grant by the NIH to develop and evaluate software used for the detection of focal cortical dysplasias, a source of epileptic seizures.  MGH received a sub-award on this grant, and LCN will conduct a large portion of the work. CorticoMetrics LLC was formed in 2012 by LCN PI Bruce Fischl and LCN engineer Nick Schmansky to bring FreeSurfer technologies to clinical practice.

September 21, 2013: Ender Konukoglu received the "Medical ImageAnalysis Journal Award on MICCAI Special Issue" this year at MICCAI for his paper "Neighbourhood approximation using randomized forests". The award, sponsored by Elsevier, is presented to the best papers published in the special issue of the Medical Image Analysis Journal. Fellow lab member, Eugenio Iglesias was runner-up with his paper, "Improved inference in Bayesian segmentation using Monte Carlo sampling: Application to hippocampal subfield volumetry."

September 2013: Dylan Tisdall was awarded a K99, entitled "High-Speed Motion-Corrected Pediatric Neuroimaging with MRI".

November 26th, 2012: LCN collaborator Gaëlle Desbordes has been in the news recently as a result of a recent publication examining the longitudinal effects of meditation on amygdala responses using fMRI. November 5th, 2012: A manuscript describing the new Longitudinal Linear Mixed Effects modeling MATLAB tools was recently accepted for publication in NeuroImage. Click here for more information on the Longitudinal LME MATLAB tools.

October 1st, 2012: The LCN would like to welcome our newest lab members - Ender (research fellow), Maritza (research technician), and Zeke (software engineer).

July 3rd, 2012: LCN members Allison, Andre, Eugenio, Lilla, and Nick had a great time at the FreeSurfer Tutorial and Workshop in Amsterdam. Many thanks to the VU University Medical Center for hosting and organizing the course!

May 21st, 2012: LCN members Lilla, Louis, and Nick would like to thank the FSL group and the University of Auckland representatives for organizing the FSL/FreeSurfer course in Auckland. It was a great experience!

March 5th, 2012: LCN member Doug Greve has been awarded a subcontract to study pediatric sleep apnea by Robert Thomas at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. The study is entitled "Neuroanatomical and functional outcomes in pediatric obstructive sleep apnea."
