Phenotype Genotype Project in Addiction and Mood Disorders
Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH), Department of Psychiatry is seeking healthy, or depressed or cocaine-dependent men and women volunteers and their relatives ages 18 - 65 years of age, for a federally-funded CONFIDENTIAL RESEARCH STUDY evaluating the role of genes in addiction and depression and how genes may be related to brain activity in these conditions.
Participants with neurological problems, HIV+, diabetes mellitus, or pregnancy are not eligible to participate in this study. This study involves up to 3 visits (3rd visit is a possible follow-up return at 1 month or 1 year) including a screening health exam, blood and urine analysis, clinical interview and self-rated questionnaires (up to 5 hours), followed by magnetic resonance imaging visit (about 6 hours). This will be followed by a possible return at 1 month or 1 year for a repeat health exam and magnetic resonance imaging visit. Eligible participants will be compensated upon completion of the study.
