DESCRIPTION OF WORK / BIOSKETCH

Dr. Aasted is an Instructor in Anaesthesia at Harvard Medical School and Research Fellow in Anesthesiology at Boston Children.s Hospital. He earned his PhD in Engineering from the University of Denver for his work on hybrid sensing and adaptive control for direct brain actuation of artificial limbs. His current research is in the use of near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) for monitoring brain activity in awake, sedated, and anesthetized human subjects in order to detect pain as well as resting state connectivity. He is also involved in the application of machine learning techniques for bio-inspired sensing and decision-making in aeronautics research.
