DESCRIPTION OF WORK / BIOSKETCH
Often, although we remember that we have encountered an item
previously, we lack specific details about its presentation. For
example, is a piece of factual information known to us because we
read about it in the newspaper, or because we were told about it by
an acquaintance? I am interested in how emotional relevance affects
our ability to remember the context in which we learned a piece of
information. In addition to addressing these questions at the level
of behavior, I am also using neuroimaging (fMRI) to examine how
emotional salience affects the neural processes that we recruit to
help us learn, or to retrieve, this type of contextual information.
