DESCRIPTION OF WORK / BIOSKETCH

As a pediatric neuropsychologist I investigate the variability of brain inhibitory networks in the course of healthy development and psychopathological disorders, as reflected in brain spatiotemporal dynamics, brain oscillatory activity and anatomy. I devote my studies primarily to obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), deemed to have developmental and genetic origins, and to acquired toxic brain conditions, as in children treated with CNS chemotherapy for cancer. I employ neuropsychology and combined brain imaging technology ( magnetoencephalography and electroencephalography, anatomical and functional MRI). Currently, I conduct studies of default brain's network in patients with OCD and their asymptomatic family members. The goal is to identify endophenotypes, the quantitative traits associated with susceptibility to a disorder. The important aim is to contribute to the development of neuroimaging-based preventive interventions.
