Idiocy and stupidity.

I'm familiar with these diseases. To the detriment of all they are unfortunately highly communicable, ubiquitous, virulent and are by no means restricted to any one particular group. They are extremely wide spread and new people seem to be catching them every second. It is to me a wonder that the CDC and USAMRIID aren’t involved in trying to stop the epidemic proportions of these particular illnesses. I see them everywhere and they are worse by far than AIDS in that the timespan is much longer allowing many more people who might otherwise be intelligent to become infected with idiocy or stupidity.

At this point I believe it to be part of the human condition.

And getting rid of these infected people doesn’t work well either. To paraphrase a character from a John D. McDonald story, the problem with getting rid of them is knowing where to stop. I would add that at some point the gene pool becomes too small to sustain itself.

The Universe must love stupid people and idiots as the model is still in production and She keeps making them in such alarmingly large numbers.

Harlan Ellison once noted that the two most abundant things in the Universe are hydrogen and stupidity. I would add that when the hydrogen is all used up there will probably still be an abundant supply of stupidity. Probably the one thing for which there regretably will never be a shortage.

I think the best we can do is wait patiently and trust that evolution will eventually discover an immunity.
