Subject: [JN] Digest version of JoeNet, other important info

All right you Joes, listen up!

It has come to my attention that some of you have not clipped and saved
this all-important info and saved it in your Official JoeNet Handbook.
There will be a surprise inspection, you have been warned.

1) How do I subscribe *correctly* to JoeNet?

Well, if you're reading this, you already know, but you may want to pass
this along to some special thermionic someone in your life.

Following these instructions exactly will prevent future problems, trust
me.

Send email to this address :
sound-request@lists.io.com

with anything you like in the "Subject :" field, and this in the body of
the message :

subscribe sound <yourownemailaddressgoeshere>

Substitute your own email address for <yourownemailaddressgoeshere>. Do
not include the "<" and ">" characters.

Reply as directed to the confirmation message you will automatically
receive.

2) What is the JoeNet Digest?

The mail server that distributes the JoeNet posts also creates a digest
version. This is a batched version of the same emails that make up the
list traffic. Every time x number of characters builds up, an issue of
the digest is released to the subscribers of the digest. Pros : fewer
messages. Cons : Longer messages (making cut and paste a little more
tedious in my experience) and they are not delivered in "real time" : it
may take up to two days (almost never this long, usually 1/2 day on
average) to build up a message of the designated size. So there may be a
delay in seeing an individual message that is positioned near the
beginning of its digest message.

saved that URL : please chime in.
