I am a bioengineer specializing in brain-gut axis physiology, autonomic neuroimaging, and neuromodulation. My primary research efforts converge on the topic of characterizing and modulating the interactions between the brain and the body and between central and peripheral autonomic nervous systems, using non-invasive approaches such as Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and neuromodulatory interventions such as vagus nerve stimulation (VNS). Recently, my research focus on brain-body interactions has been devoted to investigating the brain-gut axis through projects combining brain and stomach MRI, and to assess the effects of transcutaneous auricular VNS (taVNS) on gastric motility.
